Katrina’s story

Katrina Logan is a registered Architect and director of Logan Architecture Studio based in the regional town of Castlemaine, 90 minutes from Melbourne.  A cross-disciplinary designer, Katrina won the Premier’s Design Award in the sustainability category for the internationally recognised LUMI rainwater tank, which forged a new direction for water saving in urban environments. She undertook her internship working on Daniel Libeskind’s Jewish Museum in Berlin in the mid-90s and has since worked for a selection of renowned practices in Melbourne, building her experience in arts, commercial, education, heritage and multi-residential architecture.

Katrina currently has projects in Castlemaine, Daylesford and Chewton and is an advocate for multi-residential projects in regional Victoria that reduce our carbon footprint, support nature and build community, albeit in the time of a pandemic.  With a background in fine art – sculpture and drawing at Prahran College – and a keen painter, Katrina is equally passionate about working with artists to support their practices through architectural design.

The practice aims for zero net emissions, to which re-purposing heritage buildings plays a part. Walking the talk, Katrina’s own studio occupies a re-purposed church, in which she has also built two small footprint apartments.  Katrina has taught Sustainable Design at Swinburne University, Design and Professional Practice at the University of Melbourne. She also runs a life drawing group, practices yoga and has two children.
